How to Care for Handmade Ceramic Mugs
Keep Your Handmade Ceramic Mugs Beautiful for Years
Handmade ceramic mugs are more than just drinkware—they're functional art pieces that deserve proper care. Here's how to keep your SL Ceramics mugs looking beautiful and lasting for years to come.
Daily Care
Hand washing is best: While many of our ceramics are dishwasher-safe, hand washing with warm soapy water helps preserve the glaze and prevents chipping. Use a soft sponge rather than abrasive scrubbers.
Avoid extreme temperature changes: Don't pour boiling water into a cold mug or place a hot mug directly into cold water. Gradual temperature changes help prevent thermal shock and cracking.
Stain Prevention
Coffee and tea can sometimes leave stains on lighter glazes. To prevent this, rinse your mug soon after use. For stubborn stains, make a paste with baking soda and water, gently rub, and rinse thoroughly.
Storage Tips
Store your handmade mugs with a bit of space between them to prevent chips. If stacking is necessary, place a soft cloth or paper towel between each piece.
Microwave Use
Our ceramics are microwave-safe, but always check that there are no metallic glazes or decorations. Heat liquids in short intervals and use caution when removing—the mug may be hot!
What Makes Handmade Different
Each handmade ceramic mug has its own character. Small variations in glaze, slight irregularities, and unique markings are part of the handcrafted charm—not flaws. These pieces are made to be used and loved daily.
